Fifty-one patients who had equinovarus and hammer toe deformities due to spastic paresis were operated on between June, 1986 and August, 1988. The average age of the thirty-six men and fifteen women was 55 years old (range, twelve to seventy-eight years old).
Vulpius procedure and tenotomy of the flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus were performed at the same time. In almost all cases, the operation showed good results. In our experience, this operative treatment has proved useful and safe for older patients with some complications.
