Cinical examinations were performed on 16 patients over 90 years old surgically treated for femoral neck fractures.
Patients aged over 90 years, accounted for 8.6% of the population aged over 60 years.
75% of the patients regained the ability to walk by the time of their dischange. Patients who were unable to walk had a poor prognosis in terms of short-term life expectancy.
Important factors associated with a good prognosis included taking patients off bed rest as early as possible after surgical treatment and prevention of complications.
