It is well known that the filtration of the alkaline extract of alginic acid-containing materials is very difficult. Several methods for obtaining; clear extract have been proposed thus far, but these are not thought as satisfactory method. In the present paper a new rapid and simple method, which is able to clarify the extract without using any filtration process, called “Carbontetrachloride method” by us, is described.
