Seven cases of recurrent frontal sinusitis were reported, which had shown periodical lagophthalmos and some of orbital symptoms.
We considered the etiology is that there is a well-developed sinus along the upper orbital wall and the frontal sinus has rested at the first or second operation and has been isolated by obstru ction of the passage and usually it does not show any symptom with uncomplete drainage, but if some infection occur in the isolated sinus, the elevated pressure, inflammation, edema or infiltration influencing to the surrounding tissue or organ, and then especially orbital symptoms, are often seen.
The diagnosis should be done according to this etiology.
