Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities conducted and published by the Statistics Bureau provides information on time spent for activities in each prefecture by individual attribute. By considering the time spent in tertiary activities as available time for individuals, and by adding information on population by gender and age group obtained from regional grid square statistics to disposable time by gender and age group obtained from this survey, we can grasp the disposable time of each region and create new grid square statistics with the aim of capturing regional characteristics.
