Gelcasting was applied to fabricate porous ceramics consisting of waste resources such as glass bottles and mining wastes. Use of natural polymer as a gelling agent enabled the solidification of slurry involving bubbles under ambient. Effects of the species and the concentration of the polymer on properties of wet green bodies, dry green bodies and sintered bodies were investigated. The compressive strength of wet green bodies depended on the species and increased with the concentration. On the other hand, the flexural strength of dry green bodies and sintered bodies depended on their porosity rather than on the polymer type and content.
