Abastract: Bismuth titanate, as a typical ferroelectric and electro-optic material, exhibits a potential application in memory storage, optical display and other electro-optical devices. However, Bi4Ti3O12 shows a serious degradation of ferroelectric properties and small remnant polarizattion. In order to shear its ferroelectric and dielectric, doping and substituting technique is adopted. Lanthanum-substituted bismuth titanate nanoparticles had been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis at temperature in the range of 200~260oC for 4~12h, from Bi(NO3)3•5H2O,TiCl4,La(NO3)3•6H2O and KOH solution and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM) and Raman spectra. The crystal structure, morphology and Phase transformation of Bi4Ti3O12 powders under different hydrothermal conditions were studied in details. The influence factors of formation of Bi4Ti3O12 Phase transformation included the concentration of mineralizer KOH,the molar ratio of Bi/La, reaction temperature and time. The asprepared powders with spherical and palte-like morphologies were a typical bisumth layered perovskite structure. Key words: Bi4Ti3O12 nanoparticles; Hydrothermal synthesis; Lanthanum-substituted
