Zeolite materials has been drawn the attention in the fields of catalyst, membrane and sensor such as Functional materials. Among them zeolite membranes are recommended for hydrophilic separation by pervaporation for CO2separation/recovery, or steam permeation of water/organic mixtures. This study focuses on synthesis of nanosized silicalite-1 powders and thin film for membrane. As our interim result, TPA-silicalite-1 powders sized about 100nm were synthesized with a molar composition of 1.0TPAOH: 3.0SiO2: 75H2O by silica source such as Fumed silica. Two stage synthesis at 60°C and 100°C was effected to enhance the nucleation kinetics for the synthesis of nanosized TPA-silicalite-1.With the same synthesis method silicalite-1 thin film are preparing for application to membrane. The thickness and morphology are expected to be controlled by synthesis time and varying precursor concentration. The powders and membranes are characterized by using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and energy dispersive X-ray diffractometry(EDX) etc.
