Despite the abundance of local materials for glaze purposes, ceramic industry′s still has the reliance to imported raw materials.Lead oxide is one component in making low fired glaze batch for ceramic body, which is costly and present the risk of lead poisoning. The study was focused on the leadless low fired glaze slip utilizing local raw material. It was conducted in order to study and gather information about the suitability of these local materials as alternative replacement and supplement for imported raw glaze materials. There were three local clays used as test samples in the experiment. The glaze batch was based on the empirical formula 0.85 Na2O 0.15 CaO 1.1 SiO2 . The prepared batch was fired at 1050C. Result shows that the formulated glaze exhibit a glassy phase appearance. Some defects were evident in the test samples but it gave a unique artistic surface appearance.
