A 40-year-old female was admitted for the further evaluation of elevated lesions of the stomach. Endoscopy revealed multiple small elevated lesions of the gastric body.
The biopsy specimen showed carcinoid tumors and endocrine cell micronests (ECM) . Hypergastrinemia was noticed, whereas urine 5-HIAA, serum serotonin and histamine levels were within normal limits.
Total gastrectomy was performed. Histological examination revealed 12 carcinoid tumors and multiple ECM in atrophic fundic gland mucosa consistent with type A gastritis.
