This study examined how individual differences in vulnerable narcissism moderate feedback on creative work posted on a social networking service (SNS). Eighty-nine participants engaged in creative activities were surveyed using an experimental vignette methodology and were asked to imagine scenarios in which they received feedback on a creative work they had posted on an SNS. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that a decrease in the self-evaluation of one’s own work was explained by the interaction between higher vulnerable narcissism and receiving negative feedback, suggesting that individuals with higher vulnerable narcissism tend to show lower self-evaluation of their own work when receiving negative feedback from others on SNS.
