Abstract

Responsibility to continue thinking is a metacognitive belief that exacerbates various psychological symptoms. However, this scale was developed for university students, and differences in ratings across age and sex have not been examined. Therefore, it remains unclear whether this belief predisposes individuals to various psychological symptoms, considering age and sex. Based on the above, this study examined the measurement invariance of the scale. The results indicated configural and weak invariance across age and sex; however, strict invariance was confirmed for sex, but not for age. These findings suggest that ratings vary across age groups.
