Dry wood distillate exhibited a clear repellent effect against German cockroaches in their harborage paper shelters，As soon as the distillate was applied to the shelters，adult cockroaches flashed out of the shelters and remained outside for several hours when no untreated shelter was available. When both an untreated harborage shelter and a treated one were available，adult German cockroaches selected the untreated shelter.
