Abstract

Chaotic oscillation of lasers (called laser chaos) has various attractive properties and potential applications. In this report, we review the quantification of the characteristics of laser chaos by the orbital expansion exponent and the delayed mutual information in two typical chaotic systems, an optical injection and an optical feedback semiconductor laser. In addition, the impact of applied pseudorandom signal on these coefficients are reported.
