Abstract
Twenty six Cases of acute tonsillitis and 23 cases of chronic tonsillitis were investigated becteriologically. Fifteen tonsillectomized cases were examined bacteriologically with the swabbing and resected materials. The resuls were as follows : 1) The f-streptococcus occupied 50 per cent of all strains obtained from the cases of acute tonsillitis, but only 16% in the chronic cases. 2) In comparison with microorganisms of intra- and extratonsils, there were no significant difference, statistically. These microorganisms were Staphylococcus aureus, β-Streptococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, α-Streptococcus, Neisseria, H. parainfluenzae and Veillonella. 3) The results of the throat culture was quite reliable for the identification of etiological. organisms.
