Abstract
DVD-CD pick up and optical information devices use an axis-symmetric aspherical micro lenses to focus laser beams. But it is almost impossible to focus on a point by traditional axis-symmetric lenses because laser diodes emit an elliptical beam. For resolving this problem, this paper suggests ultra precision cutting of none axis-symmetric aspherical surface, instead of present axis-symmetric form. In this paper, a none-axis-symmetric aspherical molding die of an electroless nickel coating was fly-cut with a single crystal diamond tool to evaluate cutting performance.
