Abstract
Molding dies of optical key components in optical devices, electric devices and information devices are becoming complicated in its shape. These molding dies are required to have high accuracy, high quality and then high hardness for more molding shots. But it is difficult to cut complicated shape of harden steels ultra-precisely with conventional cutting tool such as ball end-milling tool. In this research, a new shape of cBN micro milling tools was developed and basic cutting characteristics are experimentally studied, and finally feasibility in aspherical cutting of hardened steel was tested.
