Many stressors reduced blood fluidity in rats and herbal medicine restored the reduced blood fluidity. We already reported that herbal medicine dokkatsu-kisei-to suppressed arthritis score in mice. In the present study, we examined the effects of dokkatsu-kisei-to on the change of blood fluidity induced by stress. We used CIA as a stressor in DBA/1J mice. The blood fluidity was measured by micro channel array flow analyzer (MC-FAN) which mimicked capillary vessel. The blood fluidity was reduced according the progress of symptom of CIA. Repeated applied dokkatsu-kisei-to restored the blood fluidity reduced by CIA in mice. We used also goreisan as a control herbal medicine. Goreisan did not suppress arthritis score and did not restore the blood fluidity in mice. These results suggested that herbal medicine had the specificity of effectiveness and the blood fluidity depended on severity of CIA. [Jpn J Physiol 55 Suppl:S235 (2005)]
