It was the remarkable achievements of Dr. Deming and the quality control pioneers who put his teachings into practice that transformed the world’s perception of Japanese products from “ Insufficient poor quality ” to “ The best quality. ” However, the current state of quality management systems for Japanese products is not one that can be proudly called the best in the world by a long way. If we accept that Dr. Deming asserted that “ Quality is determined by management ” and Dr.Goldratt asserted that“ The ultimate constraint is management’s attention, ” then management bears an enormous responsibility for quality, now and in the future. In this paper, we propose that one direction management should aim for is to “ improving the flow both of the Engineering chain and Supply chain. ” This is because if the flows of the Engineering and Supply chain improve, Quality, Cost, and Delivery will improve dramatically, giving you a competitive advantage.
