Abstract

There has been increasing disasters due to concentrated heavy rain in a short time recently according to the change of climate.Early evacuation is considered important for reducing the damage in case of flood disaster, however each resident's decision making and evacuation behavior vary based on their past disaster experiences and geographical and social condition of the residential area. This study researches on the case of typhoon12 in 2011 through an interview survey in Hongu area of Tanabe city, Wakayama prefecture. The result shows that people take actions based on their past experiences and their set of standard. Also, some residents had to move one from another since evacuation places are inundated.
