Abstract

In order to realize a sustainable society, not only do we need to reduce the effects of greenhouse gases, but also to take a comprehensive approach requiring various entities to utilize innovative science and technology development. As a new initiative towards social change, the realization of 'Society 5.0' is expected. In this study, possibility of achieving environmental balance is quantified through scenario analyses base on 'society 5.0'. The scenarios are included smart agriculture, smart traffic, smart transportation, smart house electricity consumption and distributed power supply. The results show that it is possible to achieving environmental balance in Japan by 2035 base on 'society 5.0'. On the other hand, it is difficult to achieve environmental balance in the three major metropolitan areas such as Tokyo.
