Abstract

After the Typhoon Morakot in 2009, most of the ethnic minority groups in Taiwan were affected badly and suffered from serious damages. The Taiwanese government prohibited the reconstruction in the mountainous area and relocated them to a new settlement. The Hao-Cha tribe was one of the heavily affected ethnic minority groups by the typhoon and was selected as the respondent for the study. This research mainly focuses on the inheritance relationship between the households of Hao-Cha tribe, the blood relationship in the village in the previous settlement and the new settlement, as well as the variation of the front yard extension of each household from 2012 to 2017. The study found that the inheritance relationship between households influence the design of the front yard extension. In addition, the blood relationship of the village in the previous settlement and the new settlement were found to have relations to the family structure.
