Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify issues of rebuilding housing in land readjustment project areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Although land readjustment projects have been implemented in 47 districts of 19 municipalities, the average utilization ratio of residential lots is 43% and more than half of residential lots are vacant lands in about two thirds of 47 districts as of October 2018. It is necessary to discuss the vision of future districts and its achievement methods again based on such situations that landowners and municipalities could not imagine when they decided to implement land readjustment projects.
