Tsunami disaster prevention activities by local organizations and managers of condominiums designated as tsunami evacuation buildings

Abstract

This study aimed to clarify the impact of cooperation with surrounding local organizations on establishing a system to accept evacuees at condominiums designated as tsunami evacuation buildings (TEBs). The analysis of a questionnaire survey of the management associations of the corresponding condominiums revealed that cooperation between local organizations and the management associations of condominiums designated as TEBs significantly impacted active response behavior during tsunamis. We also found that this was achieved through ensuring information sharing means and disseminating tsunami hazards by local organizations.
