Abstract

The aim of this study is to clarify the actual conditions of walking and staying behavior in Namba Plaza immediately after it was converted to a people-centered environment. Namba Plaza is a pedestrian-only space that opened in 2023.Three types of surveys were conducted: traffic volume survey, staying location survey, and staying behavior survey. As a result, the following were identified. (1) The number of flow lines in the plaza has diversified, and traffic around the plaza has increased. (2) Many people stay for short periods of time and take breaks. (3) Compared to previous station-front spaces, people's staying behavior has diversified.
