The purpose of this paper is to clarify the usage of former military land and buildings by national universities in Shikoku region. Many of the schools damaged in air raids had hoped to use former military facilities, and many of them could do. The former school in each prefecture moved to former military facilities, and they became university campuses under new educational system, all except for Kagawa University continue to be used as university campuses now. Currently, Ehime University and Kochi University use former military land as their main campuses, and Tokushima University does it as a large campus with medical, dental, and pharmaceutical faculties and an affiliated hospital. In this way, in Tokushima, Ehime, and Kochi Prefecture, the former schools and the former military facilities were located in or near the prefectural capitals, the former military facilities played a role not only in replacing the damaged school buildings, but also as campus sites for the new national universities.
