Abstract

The design of the pedestrian street in Tsukuba Science City, which is 48 kilometers in length, was based on the idea of traffic segregation. Recently, however, residents fear using this tree-lined street, and often avoid it. We utilized the survey for the amount of "Eyes on the Street" and analyzed the result to assess whether the street is safe, from the viewpoint of elementary school children and women.
