To keep a continuity of sediment transport, such projects as reconstruction of sabo dam into slit dam, sediment augmentation downstream toe of dam and sand bypassing or sand recycling are being carried out in the upstream area and seacoast area. But, impacts of sediment augmentation on riverbed topography and materials were not clarified yet.
In the Nagata district of the Tama River, sediment was supplied at the upstream end of the district from 2001.In this study, the influence of sediment augmentation on the downstream was observed mainly with field works. Consequently, sediment augmentation would make height of sandbar rise and area of loose gravel increase.
