The vegetation on the river beds is strongly dependent on secure flood control and conservation of the river environment, which is therefore extremely important for river management. In this report, the vegetation management on the river beds was examined in the Gokase River, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. Firstly, the vegetation change analysis model constructed for the Kita River was applied to check whether it was applicable to describing destruction and restoration of the vegetation of recent 16 years in three areas of the Gokase River. Secondly, the simulated results were applied to find the locations with high necessity to watch the growth of the vegetation on the river beds to prevent the river channel occlusion at the time of the floods.
