This report is aimed at solving the problems related to the float observation of discharge in wide rivers.Flood discharges were observed by the float,ADCP,the mobile radio current meter and video image velocimetry in the projects at two sites of the Tone River.
As a result, observation using the mobile radio current meter spent the 1/3 of the time in float observations at the same condition. An observer could spend the time efficiently to observe discharge within 5% of the difference between the float and the mobile radio current meter.Labor saving effect was very clear by the current meter.
