La motivation existentielle met en avant les dimensions culturelles pour expliquer la motivation d’une certaine catégorie d’apprenants de français à Taïwan. Elle vient ainsi compléter les notions habituelles de motivation intégrative ou instrumentale. Il s’agit ici de montrer la multiplicité des facteurs à prendre en compte pour la faire émerger.
The « existential motivation » concept puts forward the cultural features of language learning to explain the motivation of a certain category of French language learners in Taiwan. Thus it comes as an additional perspective to the usual integrative or instrumental concept of motivation. This paper insists on the multiplicity of the factors to take in account in order to make this kind of motivation emerge in research.
