This paper presents a stability criterion for 2-D discrete systems. The proposed stability criterion is based on linear matrix inequality (LMI), and hence, it is computationally tractable. Furthermore, it is less conservative than the existing LMI-based conditions. In deriving the stability criteriton, finite-order Fourier series approximation of the solution for frequency-dependent LMI plays a key role. A method for computing the stability radius of 2-D discrete systems is also presented.
