Abstract

In this paper, we propose a method for real-time detection
of free areas from stereo images. Free areas are detected
from only intensity image by using "pm filter"
that is newly proposed. This method is very fast
because segmentation is not used and free areas are
detected from only left image. The point correspondence
between left and right images is carried out
by using "epipolar constraint". The distance
and the direction of free areas are calculated
by using stereo measurement.
