Abstract
A power assist system for an omni-directional wheelchair is developed considering operability. Operability is improved by using fuzzy rules that must be tuned in order to respond to each attendant's characteristics. A neuro-fuzzy system (ANFIS) in which membership functions are tuned by using input data of attendants, is applied.
