Abstract
The article proposes a new method for reducing noise in MPEG compressed videos. It is well known that MPEG compressed videos show block noise and mosquitoe noise. For reducing the noise, we design the H-infinity optimal filter which reduces noise taking account of the analog characteristic of the original image. Moreover, to preserve edges in the video, for example, characters, we proposes to use a nonlinear filter (epsilon filter). A numerical example shows the result.
