Abstract
WireRod produced from POSCO is used for making screws, high strength nuts and bolts, piano wire, tire cord and precision machinery components. So, Defects in wirerod can make a serious damage on the final products such as tire cord of automobiles and high strength nuts and bolts. To completely get rid of the defects of Wirerod, surface defect detection system of circular products such as wirerod was developed. Surface defects detection system is composed of image gathering part including illumination and cameras, defect detection part with defect detection algorithms and defect information processing part with defect data management and operator guidance/monitoring system with graphical interface. Now surface defect detection system is used for detection of defects of final products of wirerod production line in POSCO. In this paper, defect detection system of wire-rod is discussed.
