Early to Middle Miocene Moniwa Formation constituent of the Natori Group is distributed Southwestern part of Sendai City. This Formation consists mainly of conglomerate and calcareous sandstone yields many kinds of Molluscan fossils show warm shallow sea environs, so called “Kadonosawa fauna”. In the Kita-akaishi area, basal conglomerate of the Moniwa Formation and sandstone overlying the conglomerate are well observed. Because of the safely to collect abundant fossils, the basal conglomerate has been often used for school and social geological educations. However, as the fossils from the sandstone have poor state of preservation, the sandstone has almost never been used for educations. In this report, author describes the horizon yields a lot of gastropods fossils from above mentioned sandstone with bryozoans and crustaceans. This horizon has the possibility for Geological Education use.
