Mineral oil-water-surfactants of three types, -oil in water (O/W) type, water in oil (W/O) type and solubilized (S) type-were diluted with water from 3 to 2, 000 times and tested for quenching and lubricating.
Although W/O type was much inferior, O/W type was all right and its property was nearly equal to that of solubilized type.
O/W type and solubilized type were generally associated with water and mineral oil for quenching, but sometimes inferior than mineral oil in small quantity of water.
Generaljy the diluted one, was good for quenching but not good for lubicating.
As surfactants, quality and quantity seem to be more important factors than the degree of emulsion or dilution.
