The experiment on the salt spray resistance was carried out with the Al and Al-alloy casting, on which Cu, Ni and Cr are plated by single or multiple plating.
The experimental results show that both Ni and Cu-Ni plating are corroded rapidly by spraying.
The plating layer is protruded by the corrosion product which is produced on the surface of base metal due to long time spraying.
Cr-plating at the final process gives better anti-corrosive property to the alloy, even if it is plated by single plating.
