In this paper, empirical equations for airflow-generated noise and pressure drop of rectangular dissipative silencers are given. The empirical equations of airflow-generated noise consist of two expressions for the high frequency and for the low frequency. The high frequency noise is thought to be the boundary layer noise of the silencer wall, and frequency characteristics is characterized in the ratio of the frequency and flow velocity. The empirical equation of the pressure drop is made based on the friction loss of a circular duct and the local pressure loss such as a diffuser.
