A steel tank which is 2.0 m by 4.5 m by 3.0 m is installed under the ground in order to examine increase of heat extraction or heat injection by ground water flow in ground thermal energy systems. One experiment with a ground water velocity of 1350 m per year shows 1.5 times higher heat extraction compared to another one without ground water flow. The ground water flow doesn't show increase of temperature on the surface of the ground heat exchanger in spite of heat charge. Reduction of thermal resistance of the ground heat exchanger will lead to higher performance in such conditions.
