The "Enforced Building Standards Act" was revised in July 2003, which required the installing of continuous ventilation systems in residential housing. However, the chemical substance removal performance of the gas removal devices installed with continuous ventilation systems is generally poor. Therefore, in the present study, physisorption materials and chemical absorbents were used with the objective of developing a high-performance gas removal device with additional chemical substance removal performance. As a result, the formaldehyde removal performance (CADR [m^3/h]) of the gas removal device was 52.1[m^3/h] and its VOC CADR was 38.0[m^3/h]. These results show that the modified device is more effective as an indoor countermeasure product.
