This paper describes a non-powered refrigeration system by using open cast snow mound as a thermal insulation material for ice and food storage. First, a field experiment on the system with 85000m^3-snow mound was conducted in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. The storehouse in the snow mound was always kept at temperature of the neighborhood of freezing point, humidity 90%. Second, through computer simulations, it was shown that this system is utilized effectively in the suburbs of Sapporo.
