The present study aims to develop the model predictive control (MPC) strategy using artificial intelligence (AI) for a building heat source system with thermal energy storage (TES). As a result, the MPC strategy could reduce the operating cost by 9.7–22.5% compared to rule-based control strategies that prioritize the discharging operation of TES.
