I introduce the latest industrial robot standardization activities, a scheme called ORiN. This project created three technologies, RAO, RRD and RAP. RAO is standard program interface, and RRD is standard data schema, and last RAP is standard access protocol. The RAO provides its client application with general procedures for accessing various FA devices (including Robot Controller, PLC, NC, etc.). It’s based on the distributed component object model. In this paper, I introduce technical aspect of the RAO.
