抄録
This paper will show how the Japanese tea ceremony was influenced by a number of Asian countries and how the tea ceremony came to be in the form it is today. In order to advance knowledge of the tea ceremony it is important to recognize how it was originally formed and to know the boundaries where new rules were added. Critical issues in the connection between trade, Zen Buddhism and the tea ceremony will be discussed. The background to these issued will be the relationships between Japan, China and Korea from the 12th to the 16th century.
