Japanese textbooks are basic sources of information about 'Japanese Culture'. They provide the learners the opportunity to study 'Japanese Cultural Traits'. If the concepts of the 'Japanese Cultural Traits' possessed by the language learners can be pinpointed, it must be effective in organizing more efficient cultural study curriculum in the Japanese language education. This paper is an attempt tp clarify the differences between the images of the Japanese cultural traits possessed by the native Japanese teachers and by the Chinese learners through the comparative analysis of the responses to the questionnaires by the two groups. Th focuses of the questionnaires on the Japanese cultural traits are the traditional Japanese cultural traits, the Japanese dietary habits, and the Japanese human relationships. The finding of the questionnaire analysis revealed differences between the two groups. These differences will be useful for the native Japanese teachers in organizing effective cultural study curricula for their classes.
