Wisgur Symmetry and the B Meson Decays

We have studied the flavor-spin symmetry using the 1/<N_c> expansion of the weak hadronic matrix element in non-leptonic decays of the B meson. Since the elastic form factor of the B meson is unknown, relative magnitudes of branching ratios among some decay channels have been examined. Our results as to the spin symmetry are consistent with present experimental data. The spin symmetry will be more clearly tested in single charmed meson decays and double charmed meson decays of the B meson if precise data become available in future experiments. On the other hand, the test of the flavor symmetry is less clear, because our results as to the flavor symmetry depend on the unknown parameter f_D and the t dependence of the function f^<D→P>_±(t). Moreover, final state interactions may not be neglected in the D meson decay since the D meson mass is not large enough to neglect non-leading terms of the 1/<N_c> expansion.
