In order to handle powders, ultrasonic vibration was used. Firstly, it was applied for plug conveying in horizontal pipe, and pressure drop was measured. As a result, pressure drop became smaller linearly with increasing ultrasonic vibration regardless of particles and flow conditions. Secondary it was shown that ultrasound could reduce friction between powder and wall, and it was affected by particle diameter. Additionally powders were able to be classified by using acoustic pressure. Finally, suspension of particle motion in air flow was confirmed calculatedly due to generation of ultrasonic standing wave. Results showed particles move to the node of standing wave and this effect depends on particle diameter, maximum acoustic pressure and vibration mode.
