Abstract
The accurate particle classification of separation diameter from 1 to 100μm is required in practical particle handling process. The cut size of louver type separator is ranged from 10 to 100μm. On the other hand, the cut size of dry-cyclone separator is ranged from 1 to 10μm. This report explains the recent research result of high performance louver and cyclone type separator based on simulation and visualization experiment.
The separation performance of new type louver separator is higher than that of the standard type. The selection of optimum blade spacing and inlet flow rectifier are important to improve particle separation efficiency.
For the cyclone separator, reverse flow region is near the upper outlet pipe region is observed from simulation and visualization experiment. By use of optimum size ring and jet flow injection near the upper plate, separation performance of cyclone is improved. In order to increase particle separation performance, the fluid turbulence region should be decreased.
